I STAND FOR…
Responsive Government
I strive to be a trustee that cultivates responsive government. I will prioritize open communication and resident engagement, alongside a concierge approach. This means providing multiple avenues for residents to voice concerns (town halls, open office hours) and offering dedicated points of contact. My goal is to establish multiple community outreach advocates, who would assess resident needs by answering questions and connecting them with the right programs/departments. This combined approach fosters transparency, creates accessible avenues for resident input, and ensures a government that is responsive to the will of the people, while also making it easier for residents to navigate the complexities of township services.
Intentionally Inclusive Community
In the past 20 years that I have lived in Canton, it has grown into a diverse community with people coming from different backgrounds and cultures, making Canton their home. In the last four years, I have worked on creating opportunities and programming for everyone, including people of different faiths, ages, and gender identity, as well as people who speak different languages and people with different abilities. I want to continue this work by welcoming more locally owned businesses and dining and entertainment options to make Canton a regional destination in southeast Michigan.
I want to increase the ease of doing business for new and current business owners in our community by working with our Canton Chamber and Canton’s economic development manager. I want to work on expanding the different community program for our youth and seniors.
Public Health of the Community
Canton is a beautiful place to live, work, and play due, in large part, to our beautiful trees, parks, and nature trails. I strive to be a trustee that fosters a supportive environment and makes it easy to promote and help I will continue to champion the health and fitness of the Canton community, by promoting initiatives and programs that create a culture of wellness. I promise to focus on creating safe walking and biking paths, obtaining funding for community fitness centers and after-school sports programs, and working with local organizations to host health fairs and educational workshops. This will include expanding the Summit, which is no longer capable of serving a growing township. In addition, I will continue to push for township policies that encourage healthy living, such as zoning regulations that promote walkable neighborhoods, with easy access to parks and grocery stores. environment not only to sustain our current community, but also to attract the young people who will comprise the community of the future.
